The Cuihu Park Biodiversity Photo Contest captures the beauty of the life of the Cuihu Lake with light and shadow, and the photography exhibition opens

As an oasis in the center of Kunming, Green Lake is a paradise where people, animals and plants live in harmony. Over the years, red-headed gulls, red-headed pochards, egrets, herons, red-bellied squirrels, butterflies, bumblebees and other animals have inhabited here, and Cuihu Park has become an important place for urban residents to enjoy leisure and receive popular science education, and was awarded the title of Yunnan Provincial General Education Base in 2023.

In order to deeply practice the important concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", we should give full play to the role of popular science education in the park. In February 2024, the "2024 Cuihu Biodiversity Photo Contest" hosted by the Wuhua District Urban Administration Bureau and jointly organized by Kunming Cuihu Park, China Overseas Real Estate Yungui Company, and Yunnan Radio and Television Station's Diverse Planet Column kicked off. The competition is open to all citizens and tourists to collect photographic works with the theme of "Cuihu Biodiversity", which is divided into three stages: online voting, expert review, and exhibition of works, which will be held simultaneously on Douyin, Xiaohongshu and the offline exhibition platform Zhonghai Happy Home Mini Program. As of February 23, 2024, a total of 136 groups of works have been collected online and offline, with a total of 9,905 votes and 156211 playbacks.

A total of 12 first, second and third prizes on Douyin and Xiaohongshu platforms were selected according to the likes and playbacks. At the same time, Fan Yi, an expert in Chinese biodiversity images, and Li Weiwei, an expert in biodiversity conservation research and science popularization, were invited as judges to select 6 first, second and third prizes and 40 exhibited works to be exhibited in the Cuihu Ecological Civilization Exhibition Hall, which will last until March 20, 2024. The photographs on display reflect the beauty of the biodiversity of the Green Lake from different perspectives and different ideas, with birds spreading their wings, blooming flowers, and cute little animals, all frozen in light and shadow, showing the unique charm of nature.

On the morning of March 2, the park presented awards to 18 winners of the three participating platforms in the Green Lake Ecological Civilization Exhibition Hall, with the participation of the organizers, organizers and expert judges.

This event provided photography enthusiasts to exchange shooting experience with each other and express their love for the creatures of Cuihu, which was well received by the general public and tourists. Citizens and tourists stopped to enjoy the photographic works, take photos in the exhibition hall, deepen their awareness of biodiversity conservation, and feel the beautiful scene of harmony between man and nature.
