Jiulong Pond

Jiulong Pond

In the Yuan Dynasty, there were nine springs in the northeast of the lake, which featured abundant water and a depth of several meters. Therefore, they were called Jiulong Pond (literally the pond of nine dragons).

In 1917, the first drinking water supply plant in Kunming was built around this place. The pumphouse and supporting facillities established next to Jiulong Pond has been preserved and become the drinking water museum today.

The scenery around Jiulong Pond is vividly picturesque. Curved bridges span the water and flowers vie with each other on land; ornamental windows and midfeathers are finely made and elegant.
